As to the start of WWII the first tank of Wehrmacht, Pz.Kpfw. I A , couldn't meet requirements for combat machines anymore, they were send to training establishments, or converted to different special vehicles, such as command machine KlA Pz.Bf.Wg, SdKfz. 265 ( LEADWARRIOR kit LW35004c ), or ammunition carriers of different patterns. 51 (chassis nos. 8011-10477) were converted by Daimler-Benz from Ausf As in September 1939 to be ammunition carriers that would resupply the panzers and self-propelled guns under enemy fire. They had Height of only 1.4 m, armor in front was 15mm and the sides and rear was 13 mm., and served in Poland and France.
The Munitionsscleppers of the pattern presented in this kit, with partly cut off hull, served in Munitiontransportabteilung 610. In spring 1941, some of them were issued to Fla.- Battalion 614, and 24 were converted into FlakPanzers I ( LEADWARRIOR kit LW35006c ). Shortly Fla.- Batallion 614 was send to south Russia. It took part in Dnieper and Don campaigns (1941), in battle for Kharkov (1942), and was lost in January 1943 at Stalingrad.
